路2:25 在耶路撒冷有壹個人，名叫西面。這人又公義又虔誠，素常盼望以色列的安慰者來到，又有聖靈在他身上。
And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.
路2:26 他得了聖靈的啓示，知道自己未死以前，必看見主所立的基督。
And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ.
路2:27他受了聖靈的感動，進入聖殿，正遇見耶稣的父母抱著孩子進來，要照律法的規矩辦理。
And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law,
路2:28 西面就用手接過他來，稱頌　神說：
Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said,
路2:29 “主啊！如今可以照妳的話，釋放仆人安然去世。
Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word:
路2:30 因爲我的眼睛已經看見妳的救恩，
For mine eyes have seen thy salvation,
路2:31 就是妳在萬民面前所預備的，
Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people;
路2:32 是照亮外邦人的光，又是妳民以色列的榮耀。”
A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.
路2:33 孩子的父母因這論耶稣的話就希奇。
And Joseph and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him.
路2:34 西面給他們祝福，又對孩子的母親馬利亞說，這孩子被立，是要叫以色列中許多人跌倒，許多人興起。又要作毀謗的話柄。
And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against;
路2:35 叫許多人心裏的意念顯露出來。妳自己的心也要被刀刺透。
(Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.
