This naturally conservative nature is very much in evidence with the new range-topping Model 60. This deck is an evolution of the original flagship; one that follows the same engineering principles but takes advantage of modern production techniques and materials where they're deemed desirable.

It may surprise many to learn that the brand’s first turntable wasn’t made until 1991. That was the mighty Model 30, which still remains in the current line-up. It’s some testament to the Model 30’s design that it has remained the company’s flagship turntable, essentially unchanged, for more than 30 years. That’s how SME tends to operate; it doesn’t launch many new products, but when it does they’re obsessively engineered and then usually stay in production for decades.

The turntable is driven by a custom made bi-phase AC synchronous motor. The speed control unit uses a dedicated DSP engine to generate two independent pure mathematical sine waves which provide total control of frequency, phase relationship and amplitude. These in turn are matched (tuned) to the motor for accuracy to obtain the best possible performance. The output driver stage is a 2 channel, class AB Bi-polar design with low distortion and relay coupled directly to the motor. The entire design is implemented using high quality surface mount technology on a gold plated FR4 PCB.

The speed range is 33.33 and 45rpm with independent memory settings via a switched encoder.

為配合Model 60, 廠方更推出Model VA ( Advanced) 唱臂，失真只有 0.0120/mm.  同樣針對Model V 在當年設計及生產時之妥協，利用新CNC 技術及物料優化。打造出更好鋼性更低諧震的tri-lobular（弧邊三角形臂管)。聲音更活潑，動態更強勁。臂管內按線採用 Crystal Cable 高級純銀導線, 保証失真低、音樂性良好.  SME Model VA 保証可重播最擴濶的頻段及最大的動態.

A-Class Arm
Perhaps the most notable addition to the Model 60 is a new tonearm, designated 'Series VA' – the 'Advanced' iteration of the longstanding Series V. This features a bearing yoke still made from a magnesium/aluminium alloy, but the arm tube is no longer metal. Instead it is hewn from an 'advanced polymer resin', and not 3D-printed but machined from a solid block just like the magnesium alloy armtube of the standard Series V.
