Have been looking up a couple of speakers recently, but none of them feel satisfied. Until a friend propose vivid. First I rejected his proposal, but after listening in a coincident chance, it seems those are the sound I am looking for

師兄偶然聽到的Vivid是那一款型號？其實家人咁清楚講明只有K1可以攞到批文就免得師兄你思前想後上唔上G1啦 。

師兄會選哪一隻色？

Of course I show my boss the photo of K1, since this is also the max I could have afforded. She already said If I asked for the G series, she would not accept.

B1 decade Limited Edition has the fixed grille but this LE is expensive. It is safe to use Oval series (V1.5, B1 and K1)  if yo do not have kids, cats or dogs in your living room.

I do agree that this is one of my concerned when buying this speaker. There aren't really much speaker do not have grills cover in the market.

Lucky that I do not have kid, only a small dog arround. Presuming that the little dog is not able to reach up to the Drives, as there are quite a distance from the ground level.

The remaining concerned would be the part-time mad, she has been cleaning my house for quite number of years, and that my existing speakers, I seldom cover it up after listening

師兄、請問各位Vivid 用家心得, 300 尺左右嘅廳、唔可唔可以容納到K1個低音

I am an ex K1 user, my absolute listening area is only about 150 square feet. Placement of the speakers is similar to my G3 now, please browse my photo gallery. K1 is not particularly difficult to position but experimentation is definitely required to get the best sound image. They were placed about 6 feet apart and about 2.5 feet from the rear wall and slightly toe in towards the "best listening spot".

Congratulations to you as a future owner of K1. I am also quite interested to know your partnering equipment. Would you kindly share the HiFi gear you have.

I see that you've upgraded from K1 to G3, would you please share with us the difference between them and in what areas the improvement are? Thanks a lot.

Ching,
Thanks for your details layout and sharing of your past experience with your K1. It seems that the placement of K1 isn't that critical compared with the other speakers in the market.

My equipment are very old age expect the CD. I am currently using Cello encore pre to Krell 400cx to drive a pair Avalon Speaker through Transparent Ref SC. CD is a newly purchase Electrocompaniet - EMC 1 MK III, replacement of my ML360s DA and Theta CDT. Though, there were some improvement while there were some lost in this replacement. However that, I always preparing to adopt those losses in equipment changes. Knowing to compromise is very important in Hifi, there are nowhere perfect.

I am lucky to using the entire 300 sq ft of my living room. They are placing almost in the middle of long wall in my  living room. Each of them are 8ft apart and 3ft from the rear of the speaker to the rear wall, though it was somewhere marginal to an Avalon. Any further away from the rear wall will sacrifice the harmony of daily life, and that I will pay some respect to my boss. This is how its end up.

Vivid 以前在北美出show都是用kubala sosna, 常見的是兩對emotion 做bi-wire, 不過近日出show 就改用了比較冷門的shunyata 喇叭線
去年香港avshow2016 新代理用上us$80000的mit 旗艦線推vivid g1, 有點嚇人
個人意見，用銅線bi-wire 有助整體發揮

Thanks for letting us know the equipment you have, they are very renowned equipment at their times, I supposed they have been serving you well in the past. The Krells can easily handle the K1 with ease. It appears you have become 'itchy' in upgrading your source equipment. The ML360s should be a superb DAC with 4 x Burr Brown 1704 (2 per Chanel) in R2R design which should give a smoother analog sound. The Electrocompaniet has SACD playback which is what you have been lacking before. I hope you are enjoying it very well.

The K1 is a very capable speaker with excellent mid range and trebles and very respectful bass, they should perform very well in your environment with your equipment. I am certain that they will take your system to newer heights. Congratulations again.
