小弟曾經擁有 No.32.  它就算是standby也是熱力十足！
如果No.52也是一樣，兩星期後可能已熟了兩三成，可以一聽。

haha..i had No.32..and loved it.., if the No 52.., just a little bit more musical...just a little bit a little little bit smoother tone..and a tiny tiny bit better sense of AIR...
then at this price it can be one of the hiend best buy..haha

The asking price of No.52 is quite reasonable when compared to flagship preamps of other brands.  If the sonic character is similar to No.32 but with some improvement, the C/P ratio is not bad.


However, Madrigal has many enemies in every hifi forums!

ARC 40th Anniversary preamp C/P raito..is super high by hiend..standard la..haha this is what i really want to find out..

The old Mark Levinson (pre-Madrigal era) has many many fans.
The mid Mark Levinson (Madrigal era) has many fans & some enemies.
The later Mark Levinson (post-downsized Harman Kardon era) has very few fans but many enemies.

well....always some user put a lot of personal emotion towards a particular products and brand...

i cannot said...a USd 25K pre amp is sensible priced... but..it is ..ARC 40 super sensible

小弟覺得ARC多年來都屬「老一派」牌子，較老實，取價也比其他hiend brands公道。  
但被Fine Sound Groups 收購後則似乎有點改變！

haha..CK Hing... if u shall upgrade to another pre amp.., what may be it ? there are always a lot of choices..if..it is a change of "Taste"... but may not be too much choices....if it is not taste related..

Agree with you totally!
Popular brands of tube preamps such as Conrad Johnson GAT, VTL TL-7.5 series III ...etc differ only in characters & can suit different tastes but they are not quality/performance upgrades when compared to ARC 40 preamp.


Audionote M10 or Kondo M1000Mk2 shall be better but $$$$!


And tube preamp has a 迷人味道 that is not easy to be achieved by SS preamps.
(FM can do so but again is $$$$$!)

haha if u only want tube...haha..really not much choices..

can u share.. in which aspect the M10, and M1000MK2..?

FM somehow..sound more tube than many tube...haha

although it si fairly logical..., up to certain hiend level, we should upgrade the front end..before the speakers... , however...those pre amp cost a double.., and i shall not have my temptation for another speaker and keeping those pre amp..haha

i consider i have the hi end best buy tube pre amp.. the wavestream

Is Wavestream/Scott Frankland still an active brand?  Any servicing problem?

I heard that other than the classical Wavestream preamp & V8, Scott has made a very special Achival Phono Stage.

yes Wavestream is still active..and mine is the latest...not the best in term of resolution , however phase coherence, super 3D.., shape..movement of the instruments... musical...etc..really not bad at all..
n Scott is also running a service centre..and a disty for soem brands of audio at USA too

yes..the very special Archival Phono Stage...

Yes, I also like ML32 more than the cost cutting-down new model ML52.

ML 32 + 33H

This is a legend grade combo.
