Which transport/player/dac are you using now?

I think SBT is a very good substitute to PC/CAS for me , simple, no PC transformer, software player tweaking, etc.

I connnect the SBT to antheim via coaxial, not tried other connections as I do not think they are the culprit of the "diminishing hissing sound" when power off the proceed amp3 as explained.

I am now using Aurender S10 as transport and connect to mbl 1511f DAC

S10 wins a lot in sound quality (as reflected in price

)

Both are very convenient to use. Not much thing needs to be done, which is so good for lazy man like me

but for user friendliness and software maturity, SBT still wins

Regarding DAC, there are lots of choice from 8k to 10k. I haven't tried much so I guess you may try out different taste yourself by buying 2nd hands...

For the integrated amp, it will be a good move but I would rather get one with by-pass input and drive your front speakers then use Proceed to drive center and surround. As such, when you listen to music, you just use your integrated amp. The pre-amp section of many integrated amp should be better than Anthem for 2ch I believe...

In fact, I'm connecting my Anthem MRX300 to mbl 7008. When I listen to music, I just use 7008. When I watch movies, the 7008 only serves as power amp for the fronts.

Yeah, target upgrade for 2013: int amp and dac, but with limited budget.....

Researching (my habit/hobby

) int amp and dac already give me some sort of fun

An int amp both good for music (40%) and movie(60%) and not too expensive, that's the challenge

15-20K (new or 2nd) int amp with av by-pass I can think of krell s300i, accuphase e350, mbl 7006, ayre ax-7e, luxman 505u...

10k below dac... calyx, mytek, wadia, wyred4sound, hegel, anedio, benchmark, musical fidelity...

Quite a lot of choice to research... have fun and wish you get a good one soon
