I was audited some speakers around 100k last few months, to share some of my listening experience; I audited B&W 802 diamond, Eventus Phobos, Rockport Mira & Wilson Audio Sophia 3.
For my personal preference, I would not consider Eventus Phobos & Rockport Mira.
1. First of all, you should say bye to Audio Note speakers first, I really wouldn't consider they are good at all.
2. For Phobos, it doesn't have the midrange transparency compared to rest of 3 and the bass is not lean and tight enough.
3. For Mira, I quite like the sound from it and the price is quite reasonable for me, it has very good midrange transparency, fairly good bass & full-bodied image.
(but it's a little bit difficult to place in my current room)
4. For B&W 802 Diamond & Sophia 3, they are both very good speakers, both meet the standard of "today's hi-fi", both have made great improvement to previous versions, I chose 802 because it has greater treble dynamics than sophia 3 to my ears, though I still believe that the Sophia 3 should has more neutral midrange, but end up my ears don't appreciate Sophia 3.
If I were you, I will definitely listen to 6 speakers shown below before purchasing.
*(Have to consider)
1. B&W 802 Diamond (All showroom suck)
2. Wilson Audio Sophia 3 (Showroom in mk sucks)
3. Vivid Audio B1 (The Rubber O-rings need special care, my previous v1.5 has cracky problem)
4. Rockport Mira (Placement, showroom in central sucks)
5. Thiel CS 3.7 (Really good speaker for a really low price, I don't know why no one interested it in HK)
6. Revel Ultima Studio 2 (Really good speaker too, but worry about the second hand price) |
