在浮城的角落唱首歌 On The Edge of A Floating City, We Sing

《在浮城的角落唱首歌》試著從獨立歌手對生活空間的思考，來切入城市空間與創作、自由意志的關係，特別邀請三組獨立樂團：My Little Airport、The Pancakes 和迷你噪音，各自挑選一個地點，唱一首他們自己的歌。於是My Little Airport 在官塘工業區各處唱著《RM1210》，The Pancakes 的Dejay 在舊居石蔭邨自彈自唱《How Much Do We Remember》，而迷你噪音的Billy 則選擇尖沙嘴文化中心旁的廣場──一個多義的自由公共空間，唱著《記號》以此紀念在六四天安門犧牲的自由戰士。

這是一部關於香港過去、現在與未來的活動影像紀錄，導演麥海珊根據這些選地，除了人物訪談與舊地重遊之外，還穿插了許多仿舊的八厘米影像片段，而對於現在受到壓迫而前景未明的狀態──無論是現行的工廈活化政策，或是港人自由受到侵擾的隱隱作痛，《在浮城的角落唱首歌》試著以不同的層次和方式，在香港這座浮城的各個角落，實踐著自由。

簡介
當我們抬頭望上， 藍天白雲，無遠弗屆，是開闊、是共有、是深思、是視野；當我們低頭下望，彈丸之地 ，界限分明，呎吋之間是地皮，不是土地，意義就變得完全相反，是窄隘、是私家、是掙扎、是無力感。
人之與天和人之與地的關係怎麼差異甚殊？
阿P選擇了分享關於他的studio，和在牛頭角生活的故事，就像和一個女子有一年之約，明年就要分手，因為業主賣了全層樓給另一個業主又再賣了給另一個業主，情況未明。­觀塘和牛頭角的工廈被政府「活化」工廈政策搞到更混亂，band仔band女總是要搬來搬去，Hidden Agenda (live house) 再次被迫遷... 在Ah P 自由的生活中，在他自己選擇的樂器店、古怪天橋、大排檔、天台和在他的studio裡，My Little Airport 玩了《rm1210》。
Dejay選擇了石蔭邨，帶我們重遊她兒時生活，臉書的「我們都在石蔭長大群組」有很多石蔭街坊，也分享了創意的空間用法，是那樣開心、甜美、和有意思。在北葵涌市政大樓­天橋， The Pancakes 玩了《How Much Do We Remember》。
Billy 選擇了尖沙嘴文化中心旁的廣場，那裡有個雕塑，官方名字叫做「翱翔的法國人」，但很多人都叫它做「自由戰士」；那個廣場是個多義性的公共空間，自由行、映結婚相、食雪糕、­用免費wifi、無所事事的、藝術公民發起的「支援艾未未行動」、活化廳主辦的「來往廣場的單車」藝術行動，我們看到了香港最重要的東西...... Billy由一九九九年開始，每年六月三日晚上都會在「異議聲音」中玩一隻歌，是他從悲傷中走出來向前望的足跡。迷你噪音，在暗黃的「自由戰士」前，演出了《記號》
不同層次和方式對自由的實踐在這三個地方穿梭往來，我們在經驗它，我們在生活它...... 在香港。

Artist Statement
I have been thinking on the following issues:
-- capture more audience to experimental ethnographies/essay films
-- continuously address vital cultural/political issues in Hong Kong from spatial perspectives
-- blend personal/subjective comments and feelings with factual/objective information in documentary works; in other words, how to responsibly represent subjects (and their stories) and yet also ethnically balance it with my critical comments to the issues involved
-- provide information in ways that the moving images and sounds can touch audiences' feelings and innermost thoughts
-- appropriate academic research methods for instance, ethnographic observation and archival researches in experimental ethnography
-- re-explore the functions of voice-over for both exposition and emotion expression
-- any new way(s) to show/display information in the medium of moving images and soundscape
-- practice novelty of documentary making regarding firstly, reflexive documentary from the traditions of European Cinéma Vérité in the 60's; secondly, ways of collaboration with the subjects in which they make important decisions for the works
-- apply phonography sound art, experiment sounds, and alternative ways to record live (on location) music performances (with spatial context) that re-work the notion of documenting
-- present Hong Kong indie music in an unique approach

Eventually, I am happy that I could experiment all these in this work, and effectively for a fusion. In the end, they are not issues anymore, but touching moments.
