Linn Klimax Renew DS with Dynamik Power Supply

1.    MAINS INPUT - For connection to the mains supply.
2.    POWER SWITCH- For switching the power to the unit on and off
3.    ETHERNET - For connecting the unit to the network.
4.    RS232 PORTS - For connection to Linn source products without ethernet ports.
5.    FALLBACK - Used when reprogramming the unit.
6.    EARTH GROUND - For connecting the unit to an earthing terminal if no mains earth is available.
7.    UNBALANCED OUT RIGHT, LEFT - Line level analogue outputs for connection to a pre-amplifier.
8.    BALANCED OUT RIGHT, LEFT - Line level analogue outputs for connection to a pre-amplifier.

In fact, the display is so small, you cannot view the text from distant.

Hence, it better use a control point such as iPad / iPhone / iPod



I always turn the display of my Klimax DS to off.

None of the Linn DS has clock in

Since it is not necessary as there is no Jitter error



This is the beauty of Linn DS design when comparing with other CAS to DAC (via USB / Firewire).

Most of the CAS - DAC introduce Jitter error and degrade the sound quality.

Original Klimax DS is extremely expensive due to the Single Piece Full Aluminum Body / Case

But this Klimax Renew DS contains most of the ingredients of Klimax DS except the heavy case and display with just a fraction of the cost.

The sound performance of Klimax Renew DS is claimed to be better than the Akurate DS/1.

I believe for brother wants the sound quality and performance will go for this instead of Akurate DS/1.

What will you consider to be a reasonable price if a Linn Klimax takes away the case only ?

I believe many brothers now consider and try to pre-book the Linn Klimax Renew DS

the upgrade itself is over 5k euro.....around the same cost of the new Akurate DS....and the ppl in Linn forum said before one of the main difference between the Kilmax and old Akurate DS lies on the aluminum case.....wonder how much diff between this renew DS and Akurate DS/1....

According to the information from Linn Forum of the comments from members who have listened or learned from the agents, the sound performance quality is as follow:

New Klimax DS/1 > Current Klimax DS > New Klimax Renew DS > New Akurate DS/1 > Old Akurate DS

Anyway, let's wait and see as well as to conduct comparison audition when the New Klimax DS/1 and New Klimax Renew DS are available later in mid-May.
