Got my upgraded KDS (and Renew) back on Wednesday, and have been burning it in since.  It very clearly went through a 'barrier' at about the 4 hour mark, and I'm looking forward to it continuing to improve as the hours rack up

The upgraded KDS is an improvement, for sure; sounds more 'natural' on most instruments and especially female vocals (which is what I mostly listen to), and I am sure it will only get better with time.  I do not think the upgrade has made a 'massive' improvement, and TBH I did not expect it to.  The KDS was a bloody fine piece of kit; it is now just a little finer

However, this morning I connected up the Renew into the system for an A-B comparison.

Bloody hell it is good ;)  Very much as I remember it sounded in the Klimax box.

For those of you thinking of buying a Renew, I would certainly recommend one on the basis of SQ.  It's looks, lack of display, and possible lack of 'upgradability' are separate issues.

And before the cynics amongst you :rolleyes: make any suggestions of me 'talking up' the Renew's price, I have already sold it to another forum member.  More than I paid for the Renew ? Yes (but my old KDS board obviously had some value), but less than the total price of the upgrade + Renew.  In fact we pretty much split the difference.

I have ordered the Klimax DS upgrade and Renew DS, therefore, I am looking forward to my coming upgrade once the new board is arrived from UK.
