Mac Mini Upgrade By Myself~

小弟早兩年因應追隨CAS呢個大趨勢, 膽粗粗買入Mac Mini 2009 Early同埋Weiss Minvera後尾再買入Wyred4Sound Dac2.  前排經常留連computer audiophile, 並發現啲鬼佬用mac機既終極玩法... 以下為小弟小小分享, Internet上面都有唔少地方有所提及有關的upgrade動作~~~

upgrade所需要既部件:

1. DDR3 1066Mhz 4G Ram X 2

Ram

2. 60GB SSD Hard Disk X 1

1. 先反轉部Mac Mini


2. 我就用兩枝縲絲批去中佢~


3. 起勢插, 插得咁上下就反開個殼


4. 拆開後, 你知點做架喇


5. Ram slot close up, 你會見到有兩條Ram槽可用


6. 拆Hard disk出黎, 要起4粒縲絲先


7. 拆完Hard disk之後, 會見到有兩粒野係到, 記隻貼番落個新Hard disk到

1. 插Ram入Ram槽真係無乜難度, 小心啲唔好咁大力插爆Ram槽就得


2. 插左後, 行任何application都爽啲, Load歌仔入Ram仲爽!!!

1. 頭先有講過嗰兩粒野, 貼番係新Hard disk相同位置真得, 用處係要... 防震.. XD


2. 裝好新Hard disk模樣


3. 進入OSX見到, 新Hard disk既details. 其實未入到呢個畫面之前, 你已經感受到SSD有幾快架喇

1. 進入OSX快多好.
    (第日要整番隻俾自己部機行windows用!!!)
2. Ram夠多, 個player可以每次食多啲資料入Ram到~
3. 根據啲發燒友所言, 佢地認為每個channel只可以有一個device接住.
    例如: a. SATA只接SSD, Library放係SSD
            b. USB接DAC或FW接DAC
            c. USB接Removable hard disk放歌仔如果用FW接DAC的話, 掉轉的話, 用USB接DAC就要用FW接Removable hard disk放歌仔
4. 要換個Linear Power Supply~

Please beware of the Trim problem of SSD in Mac OS.  Only the newest builds of Snow Leopard 10.6 and the coming Lion 10.7 have built-in Trim function.
Please check your Mac Mini to see whether the Trim is enabled or not.  If not, you have to download the Trim Enabler 1.1 software.  Otherwise, the SSD will become very slow.

Also, the smaller the volume, the slower will be the SSD.  Try to avoid 60G SSD, its actual performance is much inferior to 120G or 240G of the same series.

上網search mac mini有哂片俾你睇的~ 慢慢黎, 跟住做就無死.  留意, Ram同harddisk都要夾下, 唔係乜牌子既Ram都食架~

According to the photo of your 新Hard disk既details畫面, the trim function is not yet activated/supported.

If Trim is activated, there will be a line saying that "TRIM Support : Yes".

其實20G, 40G SSD都好夠架喇, 不過, 會慢好多.
我買呢隻係因為佢60G慢120G唔係太多, 同埋好多友仔都係用佢黎裝係mac mini到, 所以先入貨.
