AV gears bought/changed since 4/2010 (not so expensive compared to other Chings, but very frequent as per wife’s comments) : -
1) Audioquest sub-X (bought at Radar clearance sale)
2) NHT-P5 power amp (bought at Radar clearance sale)
3) Emotiva UPA-2 power amp (shipped from USA)
4) Onkyo 5507 av processor (taken from Tangcoma hing, replacing Yamaha 1400)
5) Anthem MRX700 receiver (replacing (2) & (4))
6) Belden 83803 PC (for improving Velodyne CHT-8R)
7) Thiel SCS2 center speaker (to unify front L+C+R; replacing Klipsch RF-15and RC-52, thanks to Leo’s advice )
8) Kimble cable 8VS speaker cable for (6)
9) Velodyne SPL1200 Ultra (replacing Velodyne CHT-8R)
10) Audioquest sub-1 (replacing sub-X, thanks to Randy Ma for great price )
11) Andrew Russ fuse x 1 for “Ching Wah” extension socket
12) No permission for separate electricity supply, itching for a Sine 30A, might have to hold back as wife is complaining for changing so much as per above list and so many home visits to other Chings (a vicious circle )
My present cheap AV gears list: -
Source: Panasonic BDP-55/HTPC with ASUS Xonar 1.3 sound card/Sony CDP-X7000
AV Receiver : Anthem MRX700(driving Thiel SCS2 center and Klipsch RS-42 as surround back)
Power Amps: Spectral DMA-50(driving Thiel CS1.2)/Emotiva UPA-2(driving Klipsch RS-42 as surround)
Speakers: Thiel CS1.2/Thiel SCS2/4 x Klipsch RS-42
Subwoofer: Velodyne SPL1200 Ultra
RCA Cables: MIT-330/Canare
Speaker Cables: Kimber cable 16LTC (for Thiel CS1.2), Kimber cable 8VS for Thiel SCS2 and Denko for 4x Klipsch RS-42
PC: Belden 83803 for sub, UPA-2 and HTPC, Belden 20A/30A for Spectral/Anthem
Quite good, dialogue is clear, surround effect is enveloping but the sub needs more time to break in. Guess I'll settle down and spend more time watching /enjoying movies.
