Why a small sealed sub? Millions of smaller rooms just like yours. The new SVS SB13-Plus represents a more intelligent way to make ultra deep bass:
Size your sub for your room at SVS, it brings flat bass to your door. If you have a big open room (and there are no shortage of homes with all-purpose “great rooms” in the US) then one of our more traditional Powered Box (PB) or Powered Cylinder (PC) subs is still the most appropriate choice. Not only are big SVS vented subs marvelously efficient, they provide accordingly more deep, low-distortion, high-power bass, with impeccable quality and style. So if you have lots of space, and like your subs extra large, get a big vented SVS powered cylinder or box sub. They have the sophisticated Sledge DSP amps too by the way.
But if you have a small to mid-size room (like millions of us), the “right sized” SB13-Plus sealed sub is the perfect choice. There’s less space to fill and rooms this size naturally boost the low-end bass response more readily (a phenomenon known as “room gain”). Call it high fidelity bass, sized to your space. To take advantage of this room gain, we designed the frequency response of the SB13-Plus for a very shallow roll-off profile. So when placed in a small to mid-size room, SB13-Plus will couple with the available room gain and will typically exhibit a flat response to 10-20 Hz. This is the type of subterranean bass which cannot be heard, but it can be felt as a presence in the room and it lends foundation and solidity to the sound track.
