It seems that Nagra has some new & innovative ideas, particularly the nameless all-transistor preamp that is currently under development.

Even the soon-to-be-launched Jazz preamp has completely new design of internal circuitry and is said to be more stable & with lower noise-floor.  Also, it has more conventional rear-mounted inputs and outputs.

good thing about nagra..- give people real quality and reliable product..without too much over charges.. ,and they seem to know what they are really doing for Music Signal processing.., well not to mentioned some other very expensive hiend brand..- they really did not invest too much

oh..CK...is using "ARC 40th Anniversary preamp"...so nice , and have u try another clock with the SA-7S1? if yes..how;s the outocme.or the apoggee is good enough ?

SA-7S1's sound is typical of Marantz's : sweet & musical but a bit slow & too civilized.
Addition of Apogee Big Ben results in improvement in speed, dynamics & resolution.

But hifi gears are 「沒有最好，只有更好」。
I once listened to a SA-7S1 with Esoteric G-0s clock owned by peter2000325 hing.  This combo's performance was much better than mine.

BTW, the quality of clock cable is surprisingly influential.  I am using a Stereolab XV-Ultra Ref clock cable that has a very good C/P ratio.

Nagra Jazz preamp looks like old wine in a new bottle. 側面插線其實仲方便啦！由其是用FE open rack

IMHO, it is advisable to change the stock tubes & PC for sure
