Onkyo has an answer for the home theater enthusiast in need of that extra push over the cliff: the 11.4-channel TX-NR5010 receiver. That’s right… eleven-point-four-channel.

This baby takes full advantage of the DTS Neo:X platform and also features Cisco Linksys SimpleTap technology. (SimpleTap, allows users to connect wireless devices with the touch of a button or a swipe/scan of a device tag.) Onkyo is also releasing a new nine-channel receiver (TX-NR3010) and a seven-channel model (TX-NR1010), but let’s focus on this eleven-channel behemoth.
The TX-NR5010 sports THX Ultra2 Plus certification for improved dynamic, reference level sound. Onkyo has also included Audyssey MultEQ XT32 room equalization and support for Audyssey DSX, and Dolby Pro Logic IIz. And just in case the TX-NR-5010 isn’t super-cool enough, the receiver also offers InstaPrevue (the visual video input preview and selection technology).
Onkyo has also loaded the TX-NR5010 with a front-panel Mobile High-Definition Link HDMI port (for phones and camcorders), extra HDMI inputs to support 3D Video plus Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio–in fact, all three new receivers include 8+1 inputs. The TX-NR5010 is also capable of Bluetooth 3.0 and aptX wireless audio streaming (via an optional adapter). The receiver also includes the latest Ethernet and wireless connection capability to ensure that users can take full advantage of online services such as Spotify.
