Janos Starker passed away at 88

Bad news, Janos Starker, one of the greatest cellist, passed away at 88 on April 28th, 2013.
His greatest recording, Bach Suites for Solo Cello is available at HDTracks.com at 24/176 format and is considered as "must have" if you like classical cello music or if you wish to find out how's the mid range of your gears are doing especially the speakers.
My new Audio Research Ref. 5 SE + Reference 150 just passed 50 hours, I have been listening to a lot of vinyl since installation, the experience has been very pleasant. What strikes me most is the richness and vividness of the tonal picture reproduced. Sound stage is bit forward. I have both 180gm LP and HD version of this album by Starker, the reverberation of the cello sound and the "air" is so real and to be honest I had goosebumps when I listened to this 3 weeks ago on both LP and HD versions. Will share with you more on my first impression on ARC amplification gears by the time I reach 100 hours to do it's justice.

If you happen to have the same piece by Yo Yo Ma (Japanese Sony 2-CD version) to compare, you will find a lot of mannerism from Mr. Ma. By the way, I am not judging here. I would love to get the Elgar Concerto from Starker and do a comparison with Du Pre.
