全球每年演出最多的意大利歌劇很多都是 Verdi 的作品, 如上面ching提及的La traviata, Aida, Rigoletto, Il trovatore, Don Carlo, Un ballo in maschera等. 其次就係Puccini的La Boheme, Madama Butterfly, Tosca, Turandot同埋 Mozart 意大利文寫的 Don Giovanni, Cosi fan tutte, Le nozze di Figaro.
如果中意優美旋律, 不能不提 Bel Canto 時期的三大巨頭 Rossini, Donizetti 同Bellini 的作品. Rossini 的 Il barbiere di Siviglia, Donizetti 的 Lucia di Lammermoor, Bellini 的 Norma都係佢地眾多名作的一些例子.
Verismo 時期 Mascagni 的 Cavalleria Rusticana, 以及 Leoncavallo 的 I pagliacci 都好出名. 前者動聽, 後者戲劇性極佳, 相當感人.
另外, 近2,30 年歌劇界又興返Baroque時代如Handel的作品.

1. La Traviata -- Joan Sutherland (女高音) + Carlo Bergonzi (男高音)，Sir John Pritchard 指揮
2. Aida -- Renata Tebaldi (女高音) + Carlo Bergonzi (男高音)，Herbert von Karajan 指揮 Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra及Vienna State Opera (?)

1950至1965年是這三位聲樂家的全盛時期。
