Can Oppp 93 play directly in 2.1 speaker configuration for movies?

As title. Can the Oppo 93 connecting directly to a 2.1 speaker configuration (without an av amp/processor)? Thx.

Currently can "downmix" to 2.0 stereo mode (connecting to a pair of active speaker). Want to know because plan to add a subwoofer to the Oppo 93 to sound better for movies.

Exactly, but do not want to find out it does not work after buying the subwoofer....

93 down mix not support 2.1, only stereo 2.0

Get a subwoofer that has high pass, but signal has to route through subwoofer first so might not ne what you are looking for.

Or just add a y splitter at the RCA out.  Both solution not very audiophile, bur for a small setup that might be more cost effective.
