到今天為止，有兩部dac能做到DSD256。

exaSound e20 MkIII 是其一。 它的 MkII 外国口俾唔錯，MkIII 是新model，大約HK$24k。希望香港有師兄入貨，在hiendy報告一下。

Ethernet 之後是不是USB sound card? 應該說 thin client is better, say Linux > Mac > Win.

To get the best sound - don't use a complex operating system at all with all it's sessions and tasks.

When using small simplified code installed on a FPGA chip inside a player - it's active only when you use it and goes to sleep when the music is playing - this will improve the sound quality many levels compared to a system used inside a operating system.

I read this article.  The key point I get is not ethernet or USB.  The key is how you avoid a complex operating and communication system as source. I think it is very true statement. Feeding data store on PC/NAS through Ethernet/USB to a FPGA chip running a small program which format the data stream with high precision clock is a very desirable design.

FPGA is much thinner and it is realtime parallel programmable hardware which is good for digital audio source.

Agreed, the thinner the better, FPGA > Linux > Mac > Windows.

At USD3000, this exaSound e20 mk3 is using Femto clock with jitter under 0.13ps, which is even better than the 0.14ps Femto clock found in MSBTech DAC IV Plus (and MSBTech is selling the 0.14ps Femto clock upgrade at a list price of USD4995 for DAC IV users )

Seem add an extra US100, it can upgrade to 0.08ps clock, amazing

I am curious of the internal construction of exaSound e20III but I cannot find any such photo.

Pls read my post on LKS model IV double-ess9018 DSD USB dac.
Its internal Amanero COMBO384 usb reception board may be the strongest in the market now : up to DSD512!  

The price is so cheap.  It's more attractive than exaSound e20III la.
