I listened to concerts (e.g. Sarah Brigthman) at a ticket price of HK$1000+.  If you can get a hifi system to reproduce live performance and listen to it 180 days a year, then it would be worth HK$180,000 a year. And if a hifi system can last for 7 years, then you may consider spending HK$1,260,000 for the system for the same enjoyment! 奇想一則

I agree with u nagramen c-hing. The goal of high fidelity is supposed to be reproduction of live-like sound. Everyone may have a slightly different preference of such sound (sitting at 10th row vs sitting at 20th row, etc). Perhaps if our system can produce the enjoyment of going to live concerts, if will be totally worth it per your calculations

The one who lives with you may prefer to go to a concert with you (whether you like it or not), take seats at the last row of the balcony so as to save money.
