Anthem already makes some of our favourite AVRs so we were all ears to the news that they're revamping the MRX range with three new products.
There's a sleek new design, throughout, and more more future-proofing features, notably with 4K video processing and pass-through.
Anthem's Room Correction (ARC) system is genuinely excellent but the Canadian's are promising even more with ARC 1M, which includes a higher level of digital processing with greater accuracy in room correction curves. ARC 1M is also now able to connect over ethernet as well as providing pretty before and after graphs to provide pictorial proof of its prowess.
ARC software - now with more graphs!

Topping the range, the MRX 710 is capable of delivering 90W over 5 channels and 120W over two. Anthem's processors are certainly amongst the best when tasked with musical duties so this could be some performer. Connectivity options are plentiful with a sensible concentration on the digital. Both the 710 and MRX 510 feature 7 HDMI inputs, to the rear, and a further convenient port at the front.
All models, including the entry-level MRX 310 feature dual HDMI outputs as well as the obligatory iOS and Android control apps. Integration in to your sytem is assured with IP and RS-232 control drivers and Anthem promises more speedy HDMI switching.
The MRX 710 and MRX 510 will be on sale very soon, priced at £2,199 and £1,699, respectively, whilst the MRX 310 is slated for early 2014, with a ticket price of £1,199. |
