SHM PLATINUM CD

今天出旺角，看見SHM japan 出了platinum cd, $3xx 一張，
竟然有我最愛的Diana Krall and Oscar Peterson trio.
心想，死就死吧
結果，回家聽聽
現場感和空氣感提升了很多！

It says in the cover that it can not be played on CD player that doesn't accept CD R

It is not CDR

The signal side is silvery grey color.The other side is plain green that I believe the same coating is used by Japan made single layer SACD

Overall  is top quality Japan workmanship

看來，日本印碟商會張早年印過的SHM-SACD ，逐一以PLATINUM SHM-CD制式再印一篇!

May not be directly comparable because they can be using different master tapes. Say for example, Carlos Kleiber's Beethoven Symphonies No. 5 and 7 released by DG. I have the ordinary EU version CD, 24/96 Blu-ray Audio, and the latest platinum SHM-CD. The EU CD and Blu-ray audio used the same old version of master while the platinum SHM-CD used the re-mastered version same as the SACD released in 2003. I couldn't tell if the improvements I heard were due to the disc material or the master used, unless I have the SACD to compare with.

As you mentioned, platinum SHM-CD used the same re-mastered as SHM-SACD released in 2003.

Fortuitously, I got the SHM-SACD of "Carlos Kleiber's Beethoven Symphonies No. 5 and 7". I really wonder which version is better! Is there any chance for us to compare both versions?
