USB Cable for USB/SPDIF Converter

有冇師兄可以發表一下對 MACBOOK AIR 或 PC "USB to SPDIF" converter 嘅經驗? 特別係不同品質(價錢)  USB cable 會否對整體音色有很大嘅分別 ? 我係用 IFI iLink 或 Bel Canto REF Link 加 Oyaide Continental 5S (1.2m) 或一條 Stock USB cable (0.6m). 不發覺有十分大嘅差別， Oyaide 聲音會比較多少少音樂感和暖少少， Stock USB 就青爽啲，但兩端伸延都差不多。

師兄全套機用甚麼？
因為因應個別機才可預算分別是否值得升級，例如有人用mac機直出av amp解碼 ，咁我就唔會建議換usb線去作升級
我的經驗是usb有分別，但貴和優質的usb有分別，平和普通的usb無分別
最好師兄有朋友可借比你先試試才破費會走少些路

有好多先兄問點解唔用 mytek usb , 因為唔夠班 lor , 佢係用 usbpal, D声唔夠firewire , 但你地知 usb 主導了一整個 market. Gum 我只有 search 一D usb spdif, 但成萬銀我又肉痛, 只好找有特色 usb spdif, 個人喜好, 一定要睇 circuit 板, 佢有D特色, 有幾份 filter, 再加一個 filter 獨立鐘, 雖然要 usb 取電但佢又有 iusb 打救.

我是用 bel canto 全套西裝 dac3.5mk2 + vbs1 + ref link + ref500M + dyna c1 sig 喇叭. 現在研究下usb 線會否有實際對音色上的影響。其實我就對一條$7000 至 $16000 usb 線抱有一個十分懷疑嘅態度，這樣嘅價錢有啲跨張。看到綱上嘅意見話，短啲嘅usb線會少啲Jitter，如果屬實，asynchronus usb stream 去 dac usb 線不會對音色有大嘅影響，我就可以慳翻啲銀兩。所以就想問問有冇其他用家有冇這方面嘅經驗。

Audioquest diamond 已是頂級靚 usb 線，如果是 bass 唔夠就應該是 dac 問題多啲了，所以一個靚啲嘅dac重實際過upgrade其他嘅usb附件。

Quite a few customer bring cable to compare . The locus audio we have was do far among the best . But the owner passed away and company closed .  Recent , an experienced customer carried a iFi dual head cable . It was very good indeed .

If u cannot hear the difference, probably  there are some other bottleneck you need to overcome and fine tune .

Different DACs would have different handling of USB input.  Some has galvanic isolation, some taking the 5V power, some not.  The jitter handling would be different either.  

How the USB interface handle noises and jitter is critical to the sound quality.  For the same reason, some USB works better for a particular design.  E.g. if the DAC is taking 5V DC from USB,  Dual head USB with external linear regulated power supply will help significantly.  If your DAC has galvanic isolation, dual head USB is less important.

In some case when the DAC is not high quality or the CAS source not optimized, the improvement of USB cable may be insignificant.   

My hands-on experience is that many famous brand name USB cables are not really as good as expected.  If possible, borrow the USB cable from friend and audition before buying is more safe.  Or go after 2nd hand market and prepare to sell it if it not bringing the improvement.

My Bel Canto REFLink uses Ultra-Low-Phase-Noise clocks and low-noise internal power supplies, plus galvanic isolation between the USB processing core, the clock, and output electronics. No power is drawn from the USB buzz.  I am very satisfied with its performance so far as a usb converter. I am equally impressed with the iFi iLink as well. Thats why i am interested in further enhancing the CAS sound quality by upgrading the usb cable.

Unfortunately, there aren't too many places where I can borrow USB for home auditioning. I think blackcat is the only one that i have heard of such program. Also, there aren't too many choices of good usb cable without breaking the bank.
