cheap digital music player

Hi Chings,

I'm looking for a cheap digital music player either with HDD,
or can play music stored in an external usb HDD. I have an
amplifier and speakers. Sound quality is not too important,
I also do not need many options, a simple pair of RCA output
will do.

Appreciate if anyone can recommend brand(s) and/or model(s).

Hi Ching,

Try aune x6 which read flac, wave, ape and cue files. Just brought in China around 1600rmb. Both RCA and digital output available. It has usb and sd card slot for connecting to files storage.

Alternatively try the pioneer n50 which cost around hkd2980. I think you can find the links here or go to 76.

I forgot to mention no computer in the playback system, can I use
either without a computer ? ie I simply connect the usb HDD to the
device.

I brought a 128GB SDXC card with my music (flac) to a shop today but
none of aune / QLS' player could access the SD card, not even the more
expensive QLS player (forgot the model, cost close to RMB 6k) could read
the card.

Can any member suggest other player(s) that can read and play flac files
on a 128GB SD card ?

I only need to get a cheap player for my old man's second system.

QLS player should be able to support all wav files and flac files at 44.1 and 48 stored in a SDXC card.

Just try to buy some 32GB SDHC and your problem could have been solved.

I don't think so.  Anyway a stand alone player at least can resell separately , but computer would go inside the trash bag few months later

I thought my SD card was broken at the shop but my home computer
was reading everything ok. I can confirm the QLS player could not read
flac file on a 128G SDXC card.

May have to get a 32G SD card if there's no other choice, not the most
convenient for my dad bcos I want to load at least 100 cds for him, I
can see him losing the card if there's more than 1.

Computer is not an option, the user has next to no computer skill.

The sony all in one player with 500G HDD, build in amp is the perfect
choice but it's not sold in HK.

Appreciate if any member know of any cheap player that supports
128G (even 64G is fine) SD card.

my QA660 and 860 work flawlessly with 64G SD card, would you like to have another go to see what went wrong?May be the formatting issue.

It's more appropriate to say the QLS unit I tested was not able to read
my 128G SD card. Yes I may give it another go with a smaller size card
but not until I have time to go to 華強北 again. Is there really no other
basic player that support external USB HDD or 128G SD card ?

Ended up buying Cocktail Audio's X30 all in one system. My old
man already commented the sound wasn't as good as his system.
For less than 10k you get a cd player, an amp which also work as
pre/intergrated amp, dac, streamer, internet radio and probably
function(s) I'm not aware of, can't really complain too much.
