The New Lumins : S1 ; T1; D1

New Lumins are shown at CES 2014 :

S1 is the new new flagship player. The same solid-aluminum chassis as the current A1, but has four ESS 9018 chips -- two per side! The S1 is also equipped with a new clocking system, and an upgraded dual-toroidal power supply. The S1 will be available early in 2Q 2014 at US$10,000


The T1 (US$4500) and is the same network player on the inside as the current A1, but is housed in a smaller, more economical chassis.


The D1 (US$3500) is the entry-level Lumin model. Its chassis is half the size of the T1. Built as a simplified version of the T1, the D1 is based upon a single-circuit-board design, drops HDMI connectivity, and has a much simpler and smaller external power supply.

點解 Lumin 唔出番部淨 Music Streamer 不帶 DAC, 比人選擇配其他 DAC 用，而家雖然出多幾個 model 但基本功能一Q樣，只係級數分別。

Lumin seems to be better received in Europe and the US with many favourable reviews. The recent added feature of playing from a usb device is quite useful.

Maybe because it's cheaper than the western brands such as Linn and also because cheaper alternatives from mainland China are not available there.
Even Korean Aurender is more expensive in Europe/USA because of tax & less discount retailers.
HK CAS audiophiles are quite 幸福！

In a way, Linn non-support of dsd also made Lumin more appealing to some. I read that the S1 supports 128DSD.
