[CAS] WaveDream + Hydra-X+ 集全方位設計推動CAS至另一境界

WaveDream + Hydra-X+ 集全方位設計推動CAS至另一境界.  終於收到WaveDream DAC. 用了一個星期Run-in. 音質完全是另一個境界,Ready 試聽,多謝指教。

WaveDream DAC 用上MSB R2R 解碼模組 (Platinum 及 Signature)

R2R 解碼模組有別於 Delta Sigma 解碼,是以極精確薄膜電阻高速開關組合重現極度真實的聲音,自然平衡而耐聽,反應快速,細緻入微。  R2R 解碼模組只有幾個高端廠家開發,WaveDream 用上MSB開發的模組正是R2R 的先驅。

自家開發一體化數碼處理

大部份DAC只用上幾顆巿面常見的chips 作數碼處理,要超越一般DAC,WaveDream 用上自家開發Firmware 程式,以一顆FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) 實時平行處理數碼訊息,以最短最直接的線路驅動MSB 模組,達至減少jitter 及避免線路間Interference,打開機箱可見線路極其簡潔,與一般解碼設計形成很大的對比。

自家開發超低jitter Digital Controlled Oscillator (DCO)

WaveDream 時鐘是為整體數碼處理方案而設計,選擇了 DCO 以支持簡單直接而低jitter的一體化訊號處理,DCO 能控制由32kHz到 3MHz任何frequency 並同樣達到300fs jitter.  DCO亦能直接提供MSB 所需的 3MHz clock speed.  毋需從定Frequency時鐘行生MSB 所用的時鐘。

WaveDream 能追蹤訊源clock speed並微調DCO以達至與訊源平均相同的clock speed,配合RAM Buffered Digital Phase Loop Lock (DPLL) 以減少transmission jitter 到極低,無需外置Reference Clock 己能達到與訊源同步,無需ASRC 也不會有buffer overrun 或under-run出現,免除用ASRC 所帶來的問題(一般DAC以Asynchronous Sample Rate Converter 解決訊源與內部時鐘不同步) ,這一切都交由自家開發FPGA Firmware處理。

配對同廠電池驅動再生數碼訊源,並以 HD-Link (differential I2S) 直驅WaveDream.

CAS 用家定必深深體驗到數碼訊號污染的難題,同廠出品Hydra-X+ 正正為解決上述難題而設,完全分隔電腦電路,並以電池軀動FPGA處理器加上高精度時鐘再生數碼訊號,直驅WaveDream解碼器。

眾所周知SPDIF 的設計限制,己無法滿足audiophile 的要求,WaveDream 用上HD-Link (Differential I2S on HDMI cable) 提升數碼傳輸,已有幾家廠商支持HD-Link,大量高質素HDMI 線材可供選擇。Hydra-X+ 以HD-Link 連接WaveDream 乃終極CAS 不二之選。

更新Firmware , 加功能,改善filter 音質,易如反掌
只需用USB bit perfect 播放內含firmware 的wav file. 就會自動啟動更新Firmware,保障用家投資。

其他功能
三種自家開發Filter  (Linear, Minimum, Hybrid),以供選擇,亦可選擇無Filter。
可選擇使用Dithering與否,時鐘可選Streaming 或 Internal,內置Volume Control.

Audiobyte 的設計看來也頗為突出。

是否可以用在其它品牌的解碼上。?

Audiobyte Hydra-X+ can use with other DACs and it support DoP on Coaxial, XLR and I2S interfaces.

I2S interface (HD-Link) works with Wyred4Sound DAC2 DSD and PS Audio DAC as well.

More info about the internal up-sampling. WaveDream will upsample to 705.6kHz or 768kHz internally. They tested various settings, this is best performance with WaveDream DAC design.

705.6kHz is 44.1kHz x 16
768kHz is 48kHz x 16

If your incoming signal is multiple of 44.1, it will upsample to 705.6kHz.
If your incoming signal is multiple of 48, it will upsample to 768kHz.

Of course it is capable to decode DSD64 and DSD128.

First of all, we use our music server and Hydra-X+ as a very high quality reference digital source.  We have customers bring in different DAC include some of the very hot ES9018 DAC to compare with Wyred4Sound DAC2 DSD and DAC2 DSDse.  We know that Wyred4Sound DAC2 models are very best ES9018 based DAC.  

With WaveDream DAC, it is just another level which I could never imagine before hearing it. It is very significant improvement in the musicality you could feel it immediately.  Some good record just touching my heart which I did not experience before.  

I need more ching to give me feedback and help me fine tune the set-up.  Welcome bring your DAC to compare and help me understand the relative performance and learn from each other.

等了八個月,入宮十天的Wavedream剛開聲半個鐘,相當開心,上一代Wavequest活生感依然,但細膩高貴多許多了,好好聽!難掩雀躍心情 過一排機煲好再給各ching詳細交代

as rockna web has not been updated since 2011, can you advice the major diff between single end and balanced besides the output interface as the price diff is quite big.

Rockna is updating their web site together with the WaveDream launch.  They are audio engineers and definitely need improvement in marketing and web presentation of their product.

I have received some preliminary product information, better wait till it finalized and I'll update my web site and post here.

The single-end model uses 2 x MSB DAC modules
The balanced model uses 4 x MSB DAC modules to produce the balanced output.

The rest are more or less the same.  

So if your amp does NOT support balanced input, you better choose the single-end model.  If your amp support balanced input, go for the balanced module will give the best sound out of your system.

You can see at the back, the digital input includes SPDIF Coaxial, AES/XLR, HD-Link (Differential I2S on HDMI cable standard) x 2 and USB.   

I'm using HD-Link all the time.  Using the battery powered Hydra-X+ driving WaveDream DAC is having very organic sound.  The HDMI cable I use is PS Audio AC-12 Silver HDMI cable.

any chance the HDMI I2S input could receive DSD output from Universal player in future? That would be awesome making those players SACD transport.

There is good possibility.  I2S interface support DSD transmission.  Rockna is building a universal transport.

I have sent Hydra-X to Wyred4Sound to help them testing I2S DSD signal from Hydra-X to Wyred4Sound DAC2 DSD and DAC2 DSD SE.   So it is a standard which can be adopted by multiple vendors.
