I think OP has a high end Naim system.
I had both motive and ultimatum speakers at home few years ago. The motive is way more forgiving when setting up. The ultimatum had to be set up very carefully. And the ultimatum need a lot more space.
The motive is a really fine speaker, but sound really tiny when compared to the ultimatum. If one has a higher Naim system and play "Naim style" music, then the ultimatum will definitely sound way better.
When playing medium to loud music, the cabinets of the ultimatum speakers tends to vibrate a lot (one just need to stand by the side and look carefully at it). One needs to take care of this well and the difference can be really big. The location of the speakers on the room can be very important as well. The ultimatum mf5 is especially sensitive in this aspect. |
