Sorry but that was not what the YouTube footage said, which was:

"The recording was made from an LP", so in another words the tape playback was transferred from a commercial LP, nothing wrong with that, but not what the thread description appears to imply.

You also wonder why this was done.

Yes.

But it does NOT mean it is better.
Most good engineers are trying to take advantages on both platforms. =)

The album was made as a protools session about 48tracks.
