Actually this topic is talking about the current technical limitation for implementing audiophile music server using ARM CPU devices. The author found that two ARM CPU devices in market which are most suitable for music server, the Raspberry Pi and BeagleBone Black. The reason why only the above two were chosen to study is because they provide I2S output. However, it is concluded that (refer to the table in post #1) there are some limitation at the moment that makes them can't be a "perfect" audiophile music server. The limitation as summarize (as a recap):
1. BeagleBone Black no native support of master clock signal for 44.1, in hongkongese's term: 無原生鐘俾44.1
2. Rasberry Pi only can support up to 192k clock signal.
3. Rasberry Pi can't feed in external master clock |
