I used to be an Ayre fan and owned 2 sets in different times; however, it looks like not much c hing are talking about the brand now. May I ask any current users or why the previous users move away?
For me, my last Ayre is the MX-R mono block but since the KX-R was not out, I tried quite a number of preamp and can't get a good match so I eventually changed back to whole set of Naim at that time

Ayre is quite a good partner with Wilson speakers, particularly the new Wilson models with soft dome tweeters.
Have you auditioned such a pairing at Jadis HK?
The MSRPs of the new "Twenty" version are significantly higher than the original models.
This can be one of the prohibitive factors.
The new Twenty version costs nearly double the price of the previous. That’s why I do consider another brand instead! You need to pay an extra of 100k for the upgrade from old to the new version, for “changing” components!
As far as i know, all components changed for the new version, with exception of the transformer being used!
Not sure Charles involvement in Ayre now as I heard he got a fatal bicycle accident back a few years ago and now paralysed from chest downwards. Quite sad.
But with doubling the price for the 20th series as well as putting 2 lines within the 5 series, it is quite hard to understand the strategy.
