I am a R2R DAC fans,  and NOS DAC lover too!  All TotalDAC, Rockna and Metrum are NOS dac or got NOS mode.....

Ben, when I got a second hand Metrum Octave DAC not long ago, I did not expect much surprise from this little NOS DAC. I was using ESS9018 DAC. However, when I settled down some time with NOS R2R Metrum DAC, I found the music just flows out as it should be, I do not care about the bass slam, the highest pitch, just let it sings, that is music that I finally looking for a DAC. I sold my ESS9018 DAC last week.

Looking forward to listen to the Metrum flagship DAC. May be it is another surprise.

no DSD, most R2R DAC have no support for DSD.

support 24bit input
Optical 44-96kHz
Coaxial and AES/EBU 44.1-192kHz
USB 44.1-384kHz

DAC不同價位,分別很大,比不了的
一般選用 R2R DAC 是因為它音色比較自然, 要兩者兼得(support DSD)當然可以,但價位會是80k以上

對, 但要DAC比你的SACD player解碼更強才有幫助
另外不是所有 SACD player 可以輸出DSD的訊號

SORRY for LATE REPLY!

the Metrum Octave MK II got very good in sonic ,  definitely! NOT high definition type but very musical!  it is a really good NOS DAC.  

I have high expectation no Pavane too!!!  will let us know when it arrived .

Dear dickdoggie,  

Sorry , the Metrum Pavane cannot handle DSD signal ,  no matter via USB or Coaxial input.  However,  with Audiobyte Hydra Z  USB Bidge ,  we can have HydraZ to do the DSD to PCM cnversion using its Femto clock in on the fly manner!   We will provide promotional price if you buy two items together!  

will update you when it arrived.

For SACD Player,  we have TotalDAC,  Rockna DAC,  Audiobyte BlackDragon can do DSD decoding via Coaxial/AES inputs.

yes, you are correct!  Metrum Pavane cant do the DSD job at the moment.....

but Many Latest R2R dac can do DSD decoding as well!  Rockna WaveDream DAC and TotalDAC d1-single and d1-dual can do the DSD decoding .  they can decode SACD DSD via USB/HDMI , Coaxial and AES as well!
