With regards to the platter stopping. The electric motor driving the platter has a great deal of torque but, when developing the machine, we introduced a clutch mechanism to ensure that the user could not apply too much pressure to the record's surface when applying the cleaning solution with the brush.
If you look on the underside of the platter, you will see a small magnet, this acts as the clutch so when the correct pressure is applied, the platter will not stop but apply too much, it will.
The brush only needs to be pressed gently against the record's surface as all you need to do is spread the cleaning solution over the record. Record's are very delicate as you know so applying too much pressure could scratch and damage them that is why we added the clutch.
If you practice a little, you will find that you can easily spread the cleaning solution without the platter stopping and this will ensure that no damage to the record can occur.
