I have oppo 105, onkyo 818, PS3. i found PS3 send signal directly to my plasma and projector is the best....

worst case is oppo --> TV direct.  

use 818 in between 105 and TV (and isf setting) improves small amount.  

i must be doing something wrong....

(oppo use default settings, onkyo use isf night, TV with ps3 is calibrated using my spyder photo calibration)
