Chakat Hing,
Looking at the spec of the Int amp that apply in Ching interested case.
L505U 100W (@8ohm), 140W(@4ohm)
E360 100W (@8ohm), 140W(@4ohm)
E460 180W (@8ohm), 260W(@4ohm)
In terms of Power output, E360 should be in the same level as your existing Luxman AMP. So in terms of whether the sound of amp will match your cup of tea (a subjective criteria). You need to do a relatively not easy AB listening test in external showroom (i.e. need to have both amps for listening test while keep the other system unit & setting the same). The best way will be if can borrow E360 to your home for the test.
Among E360 & E460, I like Accuphase as their product spec is quite transparent as compared to other brands. The major difference (can find and shown clearly in the product spec) are the driving transistors (type is different in order to handle more power rating, E360 use two pairs while E460 use 3 pairs) and also the driving circuit of E460 is a bit different and more complicated than E360. Hence beside power output rating, it is expected that the two amp sound should have some difference.
As you are now using floorstanding spk, if you like the orchestral music and already have comments (or complaints) for the existing Luxman amp when it is driving "big band" music, E460 should be able to provide significant improvement in such case. But if you usually like to enjoy vocal with "small band" music & the sound of E360 match your cup of tea, then it would be a good choice for compromise between cost and quality.
Hope the above comments being useful for your consideration. |
