Hi Raymond, I have the Bollo too.  Recently changed the power supply to Kingrex linear PSU, immediately surges threefold in sound dynamic.  But 鼓油貴過雞.  Used for music only, and will install a SSD when it is more affordable.

I know the bottle neck for this kind of HD Media Box is the power supply as well as the noise from the fan and vibration from HD.

After the previous various comparisons, the Bollo is one of the best sound machine out of other popular brands that I have compared.

Hence, eventually, I get this slightly more expensive full aluminum (4mm thick) casing Water Cube without fan due to its overall performance on audio part.  Please note, I even do not install the HD inside it to reduce the possible vibration and use only external HDD via eSATA.







Some of the high hands from Taiwan also suggested me to get the linear DC Power Supply to improve the performance.  As you have pointed out, it is comparatively expensive.

Besides, I just use the HD Media Box to play the Musical Clips and Video (MTV from Japanese / Korean) as well as those from USA. The output from the Bollo may be adequate for these kind of programs.

Anyway, I may like to borrow the Linear DC Power Supply to test and compare the results later.  If the improvements are significant, then I may try to get one of them for potential enhancement.

Once again, thanks for reminding me the usefulness of the linear PSU.

My CSE TX-1000 and TX-2500 are previous old version.

However, they are extremely good and effective to provide clean power with reduced noise.

I tried the TX-1000 first for my HiFi source (CDP + Preamp) and find the background noise is required with more details can be heard.

Therefore, I bought the CSE E-500 later and found it was even better than TX-1000.

Therefore, the TX-1000 is now serving the AV application together with the TX-2500.

The performance of TX-1000 and TX-2500 are similar and the difference is only the output power.

TX-1000 (1000W) and TX-2500 (2500W).  Besides, my TX-1000 can be used for 120V output for my Pioneer BDP-09FD (US Version).



The previous version of CSE is TW-1000 which was claimed not as good as the old day TX-1000.

The present new versions of CSE balanceformer are TX-1200 and TX-2600 / TX-1200Z and TX-2600Z
